What Are Detox Pathways, Anyway?

Your detox pathways are the built-in systems your body uses to eliminate waste, toxins, pathogens, and excess hormones. Think of them like your body’s drainage system.

They include:

  • Colon – Eliminates solid waste

  • Liver – Filters blood, breaks down toxins

  • Kidneys – Filters and excretes waste through urine

  • Lymphatic System – Moves cellular waste and supports immune function

  • Skin – Detoxes through sweat

  • Lungs – Expels carbon dioxide

  • Emunctories – The lesser-known but crucial routes like the sinuses, reproductive organs, and even emotions

Each of these organs has a unique role in keeping your body clear, balanced, and resilient. But when any of them slow down or get congested? That’s when symptoms start to show up.


Why Detox Pathways Get Blocked

Our modern lives expose us to more toxins than ever before—through food, water, air, stress, and even our thoughts. But even “healthy” people can have sluggish drainage systems due to:

  • Past infections (like mold or viruses)

  • Chronic stress

  • Unprocessed trauma

  • Medications or over-supplementation

  • Gut dysbiosis or constipation

  • Poor hydration

  • Lack of movement or lymph flow

If toxins can’t get out, they recirculate—leading to inflammation, immune confusion, and cellular stress. Over time, this blocks healing, drains energy, and makes the body more hospitable to pathogens like parasites, candida, or viruses.

Before you go deep with a gut cleanse, parasite protocol, or liver detox, you have to open your detox pathways first.

This is what I call "drainage first, detox second."
Because if your body can’t move waste out effectively, no amount of fancy protocols will stick.


The 4 Core Pathways to Start With

Here’s where I focus first with clients:

🪠 Week 1: Colon

Clearing out old waste is the first step. A sluggish colon can lead to reabsorbed toxins, candida overgrowth, and bloating.
✔️ Increase fiber, hydration, and gentle movement.
✔️ Support with magnesium, bitters, or enemas if needed.

Week 2: Liver

Your liver is your master filter. It processes toxins, hormones, and chemicals, and sends them to the gallbladder and intestines.
✔️ Support with bitter herbs, castor oil packs, and deep rest.
✔️ Limit alcohol, processed foods, and unnecessary supplements.

💧 Week 3: Kidneys

These little filters work hard to keep your inner environment clean.
✔️ Focus on hydration, trace minerals, and reducing processed salt.
✔️ Gentle herbal teas (like nettle or dandelion) can help.

💓 Week 4: Lymphatic System

Often overlooked but essential. The lymph helps move waste, calm inflammation, and boost immunity.
✔️ Try dry brushing, rebounding, gentle exercise, and sauna sessions.
✔️ Don’t forget about emotional drainage—what’s unprocessed gets stored.
